The hosta plant chosen as the 2009 Hosta of the Year is ‘Earth Angel’. This hosta was registered by Hans Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, in 2002 and is a wonderful variegated form of beloved classic ‘Blue Angel’.  This hosta features large heart-shaped blue-green leaves that have a wide creamy-white border topped by pale lavender flowers in early summer. H. Earth Angel is destined to be a show stopper when used as a specimen in the shady landscape.

The American Hosta Growers Association established the AHGA Hosta of the Year in 1996. Each year it is selected by a vote of AHGA members.
